Sustainability
MATERIALS
The clay I use is manufactured locally, and distributed from Portugal.
I buy my glaze locally from independently-owned portuguese business.
This ensures less transport, packing material, and also supports the local economy.
When I am making, every little scrap of clay is recycled.
ENERGY
Using a kiln and firing it to 1300C uses a lot of energy, I work in a studio shared with another artists and we always make sure the kiln is at full capacity and never half full.
The heat generated from the kiln is used to heat the studio on cold days.
PACKAGING
Cardboard boxes and packing materials from my own suppliers are repurposed and used to send my customer orders.
When I do not have enough supply of these, I use eco-friendly packing material and cardboard boxes made from recycled materials.
When buying something you think is beautiful and timeless, unique and functional, you will appreciate it for years to come.
Ceramic pieces can be passed down as heirlooms to be treasured, ensuring fewer items end up in landfills.
As well as helping protect the environment, you will be doing your part to support local and independent artists.
